Yu Darvish Shuts Down Ohtani as Padres Dominate Dodgers 10-2

Yu Darvish delivered a pitching masterclass, stifling Shohei Ohtani and leading the San Diego Padres to a resounding 10-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, leveling their National League Division Series at 1-1.

At Dodger Stadium, Darvish retired Ohtani in all three of their matchups, showcasing his dominance over the Dodgers’ formidable lineup throughout seven innings, during which he allowed only three hits and one run.

On the offensive side, the Padres unleashed a relentless attack on the Dodgers’ pitching staff. Fernando Tatis Jr. ignited the scoring in the first inning with a home run off Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty, followed by David Peralta, who hit a two-run homer in the second inning.

In the sixth, Jackson Merrill’s single drove in Tatis, extending the lead to 4-1. Merrill then added a two-run homer in the eighth inning, and Xander Bogaerts contributed with a home run later in the same inning, pushing the score to 7-1.

The Padres continued their offensive onslaught in the ninth, with both Tatis and Kyle Higashioka launching solo home runs.

“There was a lot of emotion, but we managed it and took care of business today,” Tatis commented after the game. “If we keep performing like this, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”

Tensions escalated in the bottom of the seventh when Dodgers fans threw debris onto the field, prompting a delay as security addressed the situation. Tatis remarked, “It’s a show, and people got a little upset because our team was ahead. But this is the playoffs, and this environment is what we thrive in. I relish every moment of it.”
