Travis Kelce endured a significant hit during the Chiefs’ Monday Night Football clash with the New Orleans Saints, and the player responsible for the tackle shares a unique connection to Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
During the third quarter of the game on October 7, Travis, 35, was brought down by Saints defensive tackle Khalen Saunders, 28, while attempting to advance the ball at Arrowhead Stadium.
In an intriguing twist of fate, Khalen’s brother, Kameron Saunders, was in attendance with Swift, 34, cheering from the sidelines. Kameron, a beloved dancer on Swift’s highly acclaimed Eras Tour, has been collaborating with the pop icon long before her relationship with Kelce began.
Reacting to the tackle, Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his thoughts. “I hate that that happened, but that’s a hell of a play by former Chief @khalenNOTkaylen—he was moving for a big man!!” he posted.
Former NFL player J.J. Watt chimed in as well, humorously addressing the situation on social media. “Taylor Swift’s backup dancer’s brother Khalen Saunders just tackled her boyfriend Travis Kelce to stop him from scoring a touchdown. On the next play, he intercepted Patrick Mahomes in the end zone. Did not anticipate explaining that to Kealia when she walked down the stairs,” he tweeted.
Before the game commenced, Khalen and Kameron posed for a heartwarming photo on the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium, encapsulating the camaraderie and shared moments between them.
Khalen, who spent three years as a teammate of Travis in Kansas City and celebrated two Super Bowl victories with the Chiefs in 2019 and 2022, signed a three-year contract with the Saints earlier this year. Their connection runs deep, as Khalen had previously referred to Swift as the “goat” after taking his daughter to see Kameron perform in concert alongside her back in March 2023, long before Swift began dating his former teammate.
“Just to think, my babies have seen their dad AND their Tete Goofy perform on a world stage,” Khalen shared on social media, posting videos of Kameron dancing and his daughter watching with pride. “Excellent show last night, @taylorswift—you might really be the .”
Khalen added, “And to my big brother, continue to inspire. Myself, all those hopeful dancers, and the rest of the world need people like you to look to when you need hope. Love you ❤️”
As the Chiefs prepared to face off against the Saints in Week 5, Khalen humorously urged his brother to remain supportive, jokingly emphasizing the rivalry between Kameron’s “boss’s” boyfriend’s team and his own.
